Get ready for the holidays by building your own boxwood wreath with a bow at our Wreath Making Class at the Jess Taylor Pavilion. If the weather doesn't cooperate, the class will move into the Hatcher Garden Office. The class is limited to 15 holiday-inspired elves, so sign up now. $20 per person. Refreshments will be served. Pre-registration is required. Caroline Bell will be our instructor.
Once we know the number of people who will be attending, we will provide the boxwood and pipe cleaners that is needed for making wreaths and bows.
Here is a list of what you will need. The places mentioned below are for recommendation only. You don't need to purchase from these places but will need the material to make a wreath:
A straw or foam wreath form that can be ordered from amazon or purchased at Michael’s or Hobby Lobby. Choose the size you want, but most average door wreaths are 18 “ or larger. FloraCraft Straw Wreath Form 18 Inch Natural is an example from amazon.com. You can also make several window size wreaths once you learn with the smaller forms.
Ribbon of your choice, preferably wired edges and you need at least 10 yard bolt for one substantial bow with long tails
Two packs of fern pins. Panacea greening pins (on amazon.com) or anything similar. It does not have to be that specific brand, sometimes Michael’s or Hobby Lobby may have them as well.
A good pair of clippers - Fiskars at Lowe's is the best and longest lasting - but just a pair of clippers that will cut stems of boxwood and a pair of scissors to cut ribbon with wire.
