Azaleas Are Bursting Out With Colors
One of the joys of Spring is when the azaleas awaken and explode with color. While the main grouping of azaleas and rhododendrons are gathered in the Walter Soderberg Ericaceous Collection, azaleas are scattered throughout the garden. (Walter Soderberg helped founder Harold Hatcher establish Hatcher Garden by building ponds, planting and renovating the house which became the Hatcher Garden Office.) Brilliant yellow, orange, red, magenta, pink and white flowers of various sizes provide exuberant colors in the garden. The John A. Nevinson Teaching Amphitheater, which sits on the Thomas W. Bartram Trail, is partially surrounded by the collection, particularly a wall of large white flowered azalea bushes. Hurry, come see the show while it lasts.
