Children's Garden
What started as a dream, the Children’s Garden began as a bridge dedicated in 2020 and has grown ever since to be one of our largest garden spaces.
The water system was extended up to start at the Water Wise Demonstration Garden so it flowed under the newly constructed Children’s Garden Bridge, which was made possible by Women Giving For Spartanburg. Next to be completed was the Children’s Garden Gathering Area, a spacious area cobbled with paving stones.
Girl Scout Troop 1664 2024 Silver Award Project was responsible for the development of Therapy Garden, Sensory Wall and Alphabetical Pathway. A sensory loop was dedicated to children with special sensory needs, including a sculpture designed by former board member Julia Burnett and wind chimes.
Two bronze sculptures grace the garden space showing children playing with the newest addition being a sculpture of Major, the unofficial mascot of Hatcher Garden, keeps watch over the newly completed sand garden. The large sand garden sits in front of the Maintenance Shed, where a toys are housed on shelves for use in the sand area.
