HATCHER GARDEN PARTNERS

Swofford Career Center - has a fall and spring intern program lasting 13 weeks each at Hatcher Garden. Local high school students receive on-the-job training and instruction from Hatcher's horticulturist.

Master Gardeners Association of the Piedmont (Spartanburg, SC) - volunteers work with Hatcher's horticulturist to learn hands-on gardening techniques and to satisfy the 40 hours of community service required by the program. www.scmastergardener.org

Horticulture Program at Spartanburg Technical College - interns learn about grounds management, propagation and expand knowledge of plant material through a paid summer program.

Spartanburg Men's Garden Club - maintains a nursery on site and holds bi-annual plant sales on location. Has done numerous capital improvement projects in the Garden.

Clemson University Extension Service - co-ops on educational programs in the Garden.

Spartanburg Citizen Scholar Program - at-risk youth work with Garden staff and volunteers learning about plant propagation, nursery and garden maintenance, and the value of serving their community as volunteers.

Spartanburg Urban Youth Corps - supported in part by SC Dept. of Transportation, program encourages high school youth to take a career interest in the fields of horticulture and transportation. Participants work with Hatcher's horticulturist and complete projects in the Garden.

Spartanburg Science Center - brings over 1,000 children a year to the Garden for an outdoor classroom experience.

Spartanburg Garden Club Council - maintains areas in the Garden and assists with development of new areas.

Sierra Club, Spartanburg Chapter - holds Earth Day events at the Garden.

The Spartanburg County Foundation - since 1986 they have held the deed for the Hatcher Garden property and have managed the endowment funds.

Wild Birds Unlimited - provides feeders and feed for birds, co-ops on programs concerning education and the enjoyment of wildlife
